
The Trailing of the Sheep Festival is celebrating 30 years this Fall 2026

Come October, thousands will line the parade route on Main Street in Ketchum to watch the Big Sheep Parade—the finale of this unique celebration of all things SHEEP. The Festival itself spans five event-filled days with up to 25,000 people attending from all over the world!
Events include:
- Big Sheep Parade – Main Street, Ketchum
- Experiences – Sheep Ranching Q&A at The Community Library and Sheepherding Stories at the Limelight Hotel, Ketchum
- Folklife Fair – Sheep shearing, sheep wagons, artisans, cultural music and dancing and Lamb Fest lunch at Roberta McKercher Park, Hailey
- Happy Trails Closing Party – Vendors, Music, Food and Drink closing out the Festival in Ketchum Town Square
- Sheepdog Trials –The National Point Qualifying Sheepdog Trials, Buttercup Road, Hailey
- Sheep Tales Gathering – The Argyros Performing Arts Center, Ketchum
- Wool Fest – workshops and classes focusing on working with wool, Hailey and Ketchum
- Cooking Classes – Hailey, Ketchum, Sun Valley
- Farm to Table Dinners – The Sage School, Hailey
- For the Love of Lamb Dine-Around-Downtown Ketchum
The Festival’s mission is “To gather, celebrate, present, and preserve the history and cultures of sheepherding in Idaho and the West,” and they achieve that and more every year through events, education and fun for the entire family.
