Much to the delight of skiers and boarders, the park and pipe scene in Sun Valley is soaring to new heights. Beginning in the 2009-2010 season, America’s original destination ski resort has been steadily ramping up its terrain park scene. And so far, folks from near and far have been stoked with the results. Riders from across the globe have been raving about the steadily improving terrain park features at Dollar Mountain and this season promises to be the best yet, with several exciting new additions, including a 22-foot Olympic-standard Superpipe, 76 rails and an adventure trail system on Baldy.

 With access to over 70 features, the terrain park crew has endless options when building the terrain parks. Heather Black takes the jump and styles all the way down Dollar Mountain.

Tom Wallisch stopped by Sun Valley during his amazing 2011-2012 season to put on a rail jam competition and also to train for the X Games slopestyle event on some features that he designed. Wallisch ended up winning gold in the X Games.

Banks Gilberti returned to his old hometown of Sun Valley and found the scene on Dollar Mountain to be a lot livelier than the last time he was there as a kid. He also found the biggest transfer in the park and blasted a 180 over it.

Building and maintaining a halfpipe is a tedious process to ensure a consistent trajectory for riders to boost huge airs like this one. Colter Brehmer enjoys a session at dusk in a freshly cut halfpipe.

From the takeoff to the landing, this monster jump measured out to well over 100 feet. It was pushed up in the spring using almost all the snow left on Dollar Mountain for Level 1 Productions to shoot a segment for their new film “Sunny.” Click here to see footage of Tim McChesney and his friends sessioning this beast.
