Kristin McGee and Tim O’Shea

Kristin McGee and Tim O’Shea
Decemer 19, 2009
Sun Valley
Ceremony at the White Clouds Clubhouse
Reception at the River Run Lodge

Kristin and Tim are such a beautiful couple it was hard not to fall in love with them myself – even through the computer! Kristin is a yoga instructor, and she must take her practice very seriously because she was so laid back about the whole wedding . . . I think I need some lessons!! Kristin handed over all the planning to her mom and even let her brother choose the band. All those little details just didn’t matter to her, the most important thing was that she would be marrying the man of her dreams in her favorite place, Sun Valley. I love it.

They are so fabulous, and the wedding looked sensational. Hillary Maybery did a great job capturing all the special little details of their day – I love the crystals hanging from the branches, and the custom Christmas Ornaments. I’m sure all the guests have them hanging from their Christmas trees to remember such a great wedding in such a beautiful place. I hope you enjoy all the pictures from Kristin and Tim’s big day as much as I did.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM? I’m originally Pocatello Idaho and my husband is from Rome, New York. We both reside and work in New York City now and I’ve lived in NYC since 1994.

OCCUPATIONS? I’m a yoga and Pilates instructor and fitness celebrity and Tim is a research analyst at UBS Investment Bank.

HOW YOU MET? We were set up on a blind date by one of my private yoga clients.

HOW DID YOU GET ENGAGED? Tim proposed on the cold springs chairlift after we took an awesome powder run on Dec. 30, 2008

NUMBER OF GUESTS? 200

WEDDING BUDGET? My Dad and Mom paid for everything they are the best. I bought my dress and it was $2500. I’m not sure how much they spent!

WEDDING THEME? Winter Wonderland

CULTURAL TRADITIONS? We just both love Sun Valley so when we were announced after the ceremony, the processional was “It happened in Sun Valley”

SONG THAT YOU WALKED DOWN THE AISLE TO & FIRST DANCE? Pacibel’s Canon was the song we walked down the aisle to and “Lucky” by Jason Mraz was our first dance song.

GUEST FAVORS? Christmas tree snowflake ornaments with our names and wedding date as well as Sun Valley Sun gold chocolates

HOW DID THE NIGHT END? We danced all night and finally everyone was ready to leave. Tim and I were escorted to the Sun Valley Lodge Honeymoon Suite and were greeted with rose petals and champagne and a fire in our room…it was magical!

WHERE WAS YOUR HONEYMOON? We took it in late June and went to Como, Tuscany, Positano and Rome.

WHAT MADE YOUR WEDDING SO SPECIAL? My dad sang at our ceremony. My niece and brother sang at the reception. Everyone’s toasts were amazing. We had a shower of sparklers we ran through after the ceremony and to the SUV that shuttled us to the River Run Lodge for the Reception. Our families and friends made everything most memorable and it was truly a magical night being in Sun Valley my favorite place on earth with everyone I love and the man of my dreams.

COLOR PALETTE Sage green and winter gold

HOW DID YOU DECIDE YOUR MENU? I love salmon so we had that and the vegetarian chili was a must as well as prime rib and delicious salads and appetizers but really the Sun Valley company and Fanny Horn our wedding coordinator helped us design the menu when we told her what we liked.

D.I.Y PROJECTS? My mom ordered the bridesmaid’s and my stoles as well as the clutches and gifts. My mother in law made special bookmarks for each bridesmaid. Cookies were made by my Aunt Sandy and we did a lot of other things just with the help of family and friends. My mom and sister-in-law did sooo much for me behind the scenes the entire time I was in NYC they were working on it. I will have my mom comment as well on things when I send this to you.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE? Just being so far away and not there to help as much. But really it didn’t seem like anything was a huge challenge.

TIPS FOR SOMEONE PLANNING A SUN VALLEY WEDDING? Sun Valley is heaven on earth just being there is the best thing in the world. Guests will love to come if they’ve never been to Sun Valley. The Sun Valley Company is so helpful and Fanny Horn our wedding coordinator was awesome. Hilary Mayberry is the most gifted photographer and she is super helpful as well for giving recommendations. Mickie Adler is incredible with décor and flowers. She did the most beautiful job with my bouquet.

I can’t imagine an easier more beautiful place in the world to get married. Travel can be the only tricky thing but give your guests plenty of time and options on getting to Sun Valley.
