Sun Valley Clubhouse
Sun Valley Clubhouse
This Seattle couple enjoyed their wedding in the bride's "Happy Place"—Sun Valley, Idaho. Using excellent local wedding vendors, like Amanda Seaward and Tal Roberts, they had a classic Sun Valley winter wedding, with Christmas carolers, Hot Toddy's and a candlelit ceremony.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SUN VALLEY?
My family has been coming to Sun Valley for 50 years. My great uncle, Don Anderson, was the original sports director for the resort and at age 93 still lives in the Valley. We love the history of the area, not to mention all the wonderful outdoor activities throughout the seasons.
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
Born and raised in Seattle.
OCCUPATIONS?
My husband and I are both in sales in the medical device industry.
HOW DID YOU MEET?
We met through work and found we had many common interests.
HOW DID YOU GET ENGAGED?
The last night of a Hawaiian family vacation. Jason’s an extreme procrastinator, but it was very sweet. He got down on one knee on the beach and recited a very sentimental speech.
NUMBER OF GUESTS?
100
WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING THEME?
Winter snowflakes.
SONG THAT YOU WALKED DOWN THE AISLE TO?
A unique version of "Stairway to Heaven," performed with an acoustic guitar and violin.
SONG FOR YOUR FIRST DANCE?
"Forever & Ever, Amen" by Randy Travis.
HOW DID THE NIGHT END?
Encore after encore… Marmalade Hill was so fun! We convinced them to keep playing to dance the night away.
WHERE WAS YOUR HONEYMOON?
Papagayo Peninsula, Costa Rica
WHAT MADE YOUR WEDDING SO SPECIAL?
The fact that it was in Sun Valley—it is my “happy place” and it did not disappoint! Having our friends and family converge here at the same time was a treat indeed.
WHAT WAS THE BRIDE’S FAVORITE MOMENT?
The getting married part! Actually, the party on the dance floor.
THE GROOM’S?
Laughing with Chace on the dance floor and watching her bright smile light up the room.
D.I.Y PROJECTS? GUEST FAVORS?
We purchased burlap bags that came with a snowman making kit at the Sun Valley Signature Shop. We filled them with goodies like Spud candy bars, Sun Valley Mustard (with a photo of us) and schedule of events.
TIPS FOR SOMEONE PLANNING A SUN VALLEY WEDDING?
We were so impressed with Sun Valley Catering. The food could not have been more delicious, and the cake was beautiful and exactly as we hoped. I would not hesitate to use them again for any event! They were so accommodating!
