Golden Eagle

This wasn't exactly your "traditional" Sun Valley wedding … it was much more fun than that. Married in a vacant lot out Golden Eagle, Eeva Pregitzer and Bryce Turzian kept the surprises coming—hopping on paddle boards after the ceremony and drifting off towards the horizon, dancing impromptu to polka folk songs, using a doggie ring-bearer and hand-crafting their wedding alter. These two made it a one-of-a-kind, Sun Valley-style party and all the while, they were surrounded by a combined 30-person wedding party of their best friends and family.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SUN VALLEY?

It’s our favorite place.  Why wouldn’t we get married in the place we enjoy the most? Plus, we wanted all of our family/friends to come and see why we love living here so much.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

Bryce was born and raised in Sun Valley and Eeva is from Michigan—both are now SV locals.

OCCUPATIONS?

Eeva is a realtor with Sotheby’s Realty and Bryce helps run his family business, the Sun Valley Garden Center.

HOW DID YOU MEET?

We met years ago at a ski training camp in Banff, Canada.

HOW DID YOU GET ENGAGED?

We were on vacation in the British Virgin Islands. Bryce challenged Eeva to a sand castle match. Bryce’s said, "Marry Me?"

NUMBER OF GUESTS?

Somewhere around 250.

ANY SPECIAL TRADITIONS?

Eeva’s grandfather loved to polka dance so we had DJ Lenny Joseph play one polka dance song.

SONG THAT YOU WALKED DOWN THE AISLE TO?

We had our friend Dan Davison (of Captain Dano and the Nobodies) play the guitar.

SONG FOR YOUR FIRST DANCE?

"How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor

HOW DID THE NIGHT END?

The night ended with a cab ride from the Casino to Sun Valley Lodge.

WHERE WAS YOUR HONEYMOON?

We decided to go to Europe. We skied in the French and Swiss Alps for a couple of weeks and then ended the trip with a few nights in Paris. It was great.

WHAT MADE YOUR WEDDING SO SPECIAL?

The overwhelming feeling of having all your friends in family with you to celebrate such as special time in your life. It was so fun to have everyone you love around you. Family members and friends flew from all over to celebrate with us.

WHAT WAS THE BRIDE’S FAVORITE MOMENT?

Having family and friends there to celebrate with us. Aside from that, we spent a day up at Redfish Lake and had 30 people boat across the lake and hike to Shangri La with us. One of our friends took a photo at the top of the group with the mountain in the background and it makes me smile everytime I look at it. My favorite hike with so many of our favorite people there!

THE GROOM’S?

However, I didn’t get the feeling Eeva was going to want to risk that departure in her wedding dress. When the ceremony ended, I looked at her and said, "So, what should we do?" To my surprise, she said, "Let’s get the boards." It was a fun way to spend some silent time with her before the reception started.

D.I.Y PROJECTS? GUEST FAVORS?

Our favorite D.I.Y. project was probably building the alter we got married under. It was made of lodge pole pine and old drift wood from the local river.
