Brie Wetmore and Patrick Fowler

Brie Wetmore and Patrick Fowler

February 4th, 2012

River Run Lodge

Brie Wetmore, who grew up in Sun Valley, and her husband Patrick Fowler first met skiing on a snowy day on Bald Mountain. It’s no surprise that they chose to have a wintry wedding in the town that brought them together, right at the base of the mountain where they met. Although they now live in California, they said that Sun Valley was the perfect wedding venue not only because of the beautiful outdoor surroundings, but because their guests got to ski fresh powder all weekend.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SUN VALLEY?

There was no question we would get married in Sun Valley in the winter.  Brie grew up in Sun Valley and Pat spent his childhood vacationing there.  We met skiing on Baldy.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

Pat is from Seattle and Brie from Ketchum.  We now live in Redwood City, California.

OCCUPATIONS?

Patrick is a software engineer and Brie is an oncology nurse.

HOW DID YOU MEET?

We met through mutual friends skiing on Baldy.

HOW DID YOU GET ENGAGED?

We were doing long distance at the time, Pat in Palo Alto and Brie in Boise.  Pat was visiting Brie in Idaho and we went on an evening hike in the foothills of Boise.  It started to rain as we reached the top of the hill but Pat insisted on stopping anyway.  He pulled out a beautiful ring and got down on his knee.  It was perfect.

NUMBER OF GUESTS?

120

WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING THEME?

Romantic winter in a rustic and cozy setting.

SONG FOR YOUR FIRST DANCE?

The Bright Eyes “First Day of My Life”

HOW DID THE NIGHT END?

We served hot chocolate and cookies and danced until the very end.

WHERE WAS YOUR HONEYMOON?

Casa del Mar, San Jose del Cabo, Mexico

WHAT MADE YOUR WEDDING SO SPECIAL?

We always knew we would get married in Sun Valley in the winter.  When it came to planning the wedding it was so easy because we knew exactly where and when we wanted it.  All we needed was snow and luckily we got some right before the big day.  It was perfect because we had great skiing each day we were there and all of the out-of-town guests loved it.  We chose the beginning of February because it is usually a good time for snow but not too crowded in town.  We practically had the place to ourselves.  The weather was perfect and our wedding turned out better than we could have ever imagined.

WHAT WAS THE BRIDE’S FAVORITE MOMENT?

Walking down the River Run Lodge stairs into the ceremony and seeing Pat at the end of the aisle with friends and family all around.  I will never forget it.

THE GROOM’S?

The first dance.
