Beth and Jordan

Although Beth and Jordan’s wedding happened a few years ago, I thought I’d share it because it’s a great example of how you can create a wedding in a short amount of time and on a super strict budget that still represents you as a couple and ensures your guests have a wonderful time. Since it was a September wedding, Galena gets COLD at night – so the scarves were a special and personal touch that also kept everyone warm once the sun went down. I love the orchid details on the elegant cake as well. Nice work Beth and Jordan, and here’s to many more years of happiness!

Where are you from?

I grew up in Sun Valley and Jordan grew up in Salt Lake.

Why Sun Valley?

Since I grew up here and my friends and family are here I knew it had to be in Sun Valley. We both have a love for the outdoors and wanted to share that with our guests.

What made your day so special?

Having friends and family there to support us and share in this wonderful day of course. We also wrote the entire ceremony and vows so it was very special.

Theme

We have traveled to Asia several times and love everything about the culture. Food, decorations, people etc. We had the food, bright colors and hung prayer flags.

What was your favorite detail?

As a wedding favor we gave everyone a scarf. They received them on the way to the ceremony so once it began everyone was wearing our colors. I still see people today that wear their scarfs. We also got married in a circle. We wanted everyone to be a part of our commitment and the circle represented that for us.

Color Palette

We went with Bright colors. Sticking with our Asian influence we had orange, red and burgundy with bright greens and purples in the flowers.

Menu

Favorite food! Asian fusion! We wanted something that represented us and something different.

Any D.I.Y projects you’d like to share?

We did a lot ourselves. We dyed all the scarfs that we handed out as gifts and bought yards of fabric to make the aisle and flags that created our circle. We also built and decorated a pedestal that we stood on in the center of the circle. Our 5 year old still plays with the pedestal today!

Biggest Challenge?

Our biggest challenge or concern was guests driving to and from Galena. We didn’t want to serve alcohol and be responsible for any accidents. We rented a couple taxis to bring guests up and back!

Tips for others planning a Sun Valley Wedding?

ASK FOR HELP! Don’t be afraid to ask your friends and family for help! That is what they are here for and they are happy to help I promise. I had girls over for dinner and we would make the flags and decorations. It was fun! Also, you can save money by having family do things like flowers and music etc. It shouldn’t be stressful, it should be fun. Do little things here and there that help you feel prepared. Splurge on the things that are really important to you. When looking at venues keep in mind that decorations add up. We chose Galena for many reasons but one of them was the surroundings. The backdrop was so gorgeous that we didn’t need much. We wanted it simple and the important part is the bride and groom! Don’t lose site of what your day is all about in your planning. It’s easy to do. It’s actually really simple…. it’s the day you promise the rest of your life to someone. How cool is that!?
