Summertime officially arrived yesterday—in the rain. Despite the continued deluge, music was in the air.
In Sun Valley, Sara Evans performed at the Sun Valley Pavilion, where the country music beauty entranced her audience. In Hailey, the Sun Valley Center for the Arts and CSI’s Summer Spanish Institute jointly presented the annual June concert at the Center in Hailey.
Taking the stage this year was the impossibly thin Cuban-Canadian musician Alex Cuba. Super talented, Cuba played a non-stop set of Latin rhythms mixed with heavy rock ’n’ roll guitar, à la his hero, Jimi Hendrix. This was one of those incredibly fun neighborhood parties. Like old home week, one sees many familiar smiling faces. Friends and families, Latinos and Caucasians chatted, danced, huddled together and shared a cup or two. Together. Despite the rain, the band played on and the little corner of East Hailey became a bouncing sea of dancing umbrellas.
