Being an ensemble skater in Sun Valley On Ice has given me the opportunity to perform with some of the greatest skaters in the world. While skating in these shows was always an ultimate goal of mine that I finally achieved, I gained so much more from the experience. I have created some of the best friendships with these skaters, and while performing with them is technically considered my job, skating with them in the summers is the ultimate form of fun.
The beginning of the summer starts with several weeks of rehearsal with Gia Guddat, who choreographs the show. During these weeks, we spend several hours on the ice every day to perfect this choreography and synchronization. As the first show of the summer gets closer and our routines have been practiced a thousand times over, we have our late night dress rehearsals and costume fittings. Our time together on the ice during rehearsals and in the show has turned us into a family. The hard (but fun) work of rehearsing the show all pays off when we are having the time of our lives skating together under the stars. As Olympic gold medal winning skater Scott Hamilton said at last weekend’s ice show, “The louder you cheer, the better we skate!”
