It's time to gear up (or in foodie terms, fare up) for the Sun Valley Harvest Festival (SVHF) on September 19-22. This year the SVHF has added several events and many have limited tickets available. Thursday, September 19
12:30 pm – 2:00 pm  "A Case for Quality"  Zenergy Health Club & Spa

Ashley Koff is an internationally renowned registered dietitian on a mission to improve the health of people across America and beyond through raising public awareness of the value of quality eating.  She created the Ashley Koff Approved (AKA) list as a tool to help healthcare practitioners and health-interested consumers choose groceries, dietary supplements, and prepared food options of better quality.

 

4:00 pm – 6:00 pm  Food Mavericks Panel  NexStage Theatre

$10, Free with student ID
The Mavericks Panel will feature young food entrepreneurs who started with a passion and have built successful businesses around their passion while staying true to their original goals and beliefs. The panel will be moderated by Rachel Hofstetter, Author of Cooking Up A Business. This will be an opportunity for our audience to listen to some amazing success stories, to interact with the panel and to ask questions.
 

Friday, September 20
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm  Food Trends Panel  NexStage Theater

The Food Trends Panel will feature food and health writers who will discuss new food trends and how to decipher what is good for us from what is not. The panel will be moderated by celebrity dietician Ashley Koff, RD and will be made up of Siobhan O'Connor of Prevention Magazine, Rachel Hofstetter, Author of "Cooking Up A Business," Lori Corbin of ABC News in Los Angeles, and Lauren Slayton of Foodtrainers in New York.

 

1:00 pm – 4:00 pm  "Meet the Locals: Farmers and Food Artisans"  Atkinsons' Market

Wander through Atkinsons' Market in Ketchum to meet your local farmers, ranchers and specialty food producers while sampling some of their fare and finding how to connect with your local food.

 

5:00 pm – 7:00 pm  Restaurant Walk  Ketchum Town Square

From 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm join us in the Ketchum Town Square with the Idaho Wine Commission and Lyle Pearson Auto Group. Sample some of Idaho's up and coming wines, and check out Lyle Pearson's line of luxury cars while you wait to embark on the Restaurant Walk. From 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm wander around downtown Ketchum and sample eclectic regional fare from participating restaurants paired with the beverage of their choice. It is a moveable feast of the grandest proportions and a great way to sample some of the area's finest eateries!

Saturday, September 21
9:30 am – 5:00 pm  Guest Chef Demonstrations  Tent at Carol's Dollar Lodge

Learn the latest cooking techniques, food trends and culinary secrets from our guest chefs as they create enticing menus using regional ingredients. Some of the topics this year include "Cooking for your Libido," "From the Restaurant to Your Table," and "How to Jump Start Your Morning." After each cooking demonstration, enjoy a carefully selected wine from one of our six sponsoring wineries along with a sample of the chef's demonstration. The final demonstration will feature a wine pairing class.

 

10:00 am – 5:00 pm  Harvest Marketplace  Carol's Dollar Lodge

Free
Peruse specialty food producers, regional farmers, the latest in kitchen appliances and cookware, as well as Ashley Koff Approved (AKA) ingredients and products (www.ashleykoffapproved.com/ak-list). We have hand selected these purveyors from around the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast to join our weekend of events so you can taste, learn, experience, enjoy, and bring home the items that you need to recreate what you have learned in your own home.

 

12:00 pm – 10:00 pm  Oktoberfest by Sawtooth Brewery  Ketchum Town Square

Enjoy an afternoon of sunshine in the Ketchum Town Square while tasting fabulous beers, listening to music and sampling traditional Oktoberfest fare.

Enjoy a beautiful autumn evening on the rooftop deck at B. Restaurant in downtown Ketchum. This new event promises to be a Festival Foodie Favorite with innovative fare by B. Restaurant, live bluegrass music, and bourbon from Park City's own High West Distillery. Award-winning international Chef John Beriker will draw from his experience to prepare creative samplings of barbeque styles from around the world (Think North Carolina vs. South Korea!). High West Distillery will present a bourbon tasting along with artisanal cocktails, and there will also be regional beer offerings from the best craft distilleries the West has to offer.

Each restaurant has its own eclectic interpretation of a Harvest Dinner. The restaurants' menus' can incorporate a wide range of natural and organic ingredients and options from local farmers and producers. Their menus reflect the ever changing nature of the seasons and the foods that are available. The harvest dinners, as a special entrée or as part of the regular menu will delight the most discriminating foodie.
 

 

Sunday, September 22
10:00 am – 12:00 pm  River Guide Cooking Demonstration  Lawn at Carol's Dollar Lodge

Adventure into the world of gourmet outdoor cooking as you get a chance to interact with river guide-chefs from local Idaho rafting companies. Learn the tips and tricks of food preparation in the back country as these river guide companies showcase what they do best: cook incredible food over an open grill and in a Dutch oven, fireside or riverside, without leaving a trace. Join the river guides, and guest host Mat Gershater, for brunch, live music, and Michelle's sparkling wine while enjoying your moveable feast! A truly unique Idaho experience and one you won't want to miss!

An epicure's dream! Sample local chefs' and specialty food makers' seasonal offerings as the grand finale to your spectacular foodie weekend! Treat your senses to incredible food creations and sip wines from our eight sponsoring wineries. New this Year! The Grand Tasting will also feature 20-minute breakout sessions with topics ranging from coffee, tea, chocolate, pickling, cocktail mixing, nut butters, and the newest cooking techniques, to foods used in organic skin care. This event is a great way to taste and learn about the food and wines you love to enjoy.
