It's a Brick—House

Rain, rain, go away. The showers unfortunately dampened the spirits of many who intended on heading south to the Big Wood Folk Festival. Nonetheless, the show went on. But the main event of the late afternoon was the official opening of The BrickHouse Bar & Grill. Owned by Tom Nickel (Sawtooth Club and Roosevelt Tavern) and Lindy Stark, the new steak house has attracted hordes to its doors in its first week serving dinners.

A large crowd came in from the rain to greet Lindy and Tom and the fine array of wait staff and bartenders whose faces will soon be familiar to those of us who frequent the buyer-side of great bars. People wandered through the dining room and spacious bar while quaffing donated wines (from local suppliers) and tasting the many delectable appetizers being passed by staff. The event was a benefit for The Advocates of Survivors of Domestic Violence. Approximately $2,000 was raised for the Hailey-based organization.

On the valley’s stages this weekend, a St. Thomas Playhouse production of Eric Begosian’s teen angst play “Suburbia” (with music yet! The playwright would be stunned!) was presented at The Community School’s theatre. Meanwhile at the nexStage Theatre in Ketchum, a production of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize winning “Fences” was presented by the Royal Larkspur Play Troupe to great acclaim.

Lucky, lucky us to have so many choices!

Coming Up this week in Hailey:
