With three kids under the age of 10, Kelly Moreland knows how important personal time can be. She said that providing a way for people to take some time for themselves is what the beauty boutique business is all about. And when Moreland learned the building that housed her newly acquired business, the Chic Nail Boutique on Bullion Street in Hailey, was being foreclosed—she saw an opportunity to create a dream salon.
Moreland bought the Chic Nail Boutique in August 2010 and learned that the boutique would need to relocate sometime in the near future. With the intention of creating a new space that could not only support everything the old had, but also have room for more, Moreland found a perfect new home for her business on Croy Street in Hailey (across from Flolo’s and next to the new Shelly’s Deli).
The new Chic Nails Boutique with an added Beauty Bar opened June 3, 2011, and offers an array of new services. Along with the variety of mani-pedi services and spray tanning the old Chic Nails provided, the boutique now offers haircuts and care, facials, waxing and permanent makeup.
Moreland said her previous experience in salons made her want to create a place where people could relax and be pampered.
“Over the years, I enjoyed seeing women take the time out of their day to make themselves a priority,” Moreland said.
And with decadent options, such as a “spa pedicure” and the all-in-one “image signature facial” paired with plush armchairs and sparkling chandeliers, its hard to imagine anyone could leave not feeling like they had just spent the afternoon hanging with the characters of Sex and the City.
Moreland said that she hopes every woman who walks through the boutique’s doors will leave feeling nothing less than beautiful. She also hopes that customers will feel a sense of community at the boutique.
“You know that feeling—where after a girl’s night, you feel like you had some time for yourself but also had some laughs with friends—that’s how I hope people feel when they come here,” Moreland said.
The Chic Nail staff is a gang of bubbly, happy-to-help women, who make their jobs seem more like a slumber party with the girls than actual work.
“Over the years, I enjoyed seeing women take the time out of their day to make themselves a priority,” Moreland said.
Moreland also hopes that her efforts on the interior of the boutique can give guests the feeling of escape to a salon in the city. She dedicated months to the interior design of the space, and it shows.
Moreland said interior design is her favorite hobby, so she enjoyed giving the space some flare. Dark slate walls with bright white trim and patterned curtains surround the swivel stools that sit along a sleek manicure bar. A flat screen TV hangs opposite the large beauty bar “menu” on the wall, and hard wood floors stretch across the salon.
“I wanted to bring the city to Hailey, so my theme was kind of city chic,” Moreland said.
The new Chic Nail Boutique and Beauty Bar is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., and Moreland encourages everyone to come check out the new space and maybe even book an appointment.
