Top of Dollar Mountain and Elkhorn Springs Restaurant
You can’t get much more creative than these two—snowmobile rides to the top of Dollar Mountain, skiing down the aisle with aviators and a hand-crocheted Miu Miu wedding dress, Pinup Girl cocktails and a “guestbook” pair of skis for friends and family to sign—a true Sun Valley-style wedding!

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SUN VALLEY?
This is where we live and met. And with such beauty, why would we get married anywhere else?
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
Heidi is from the Seattle area and grew up coming to Sun Valley for spring breaks. Marc was born in the old Sun Valley hospital and grew up here.
OCCUPATIONS?
Heidi is a massage therapist. Marc is an internationally certified mountain guide.
HOW DID YOU MEET?
Where else….at a bar. The Cellar Pub.
HOW DID YOU GET ENGAGED?
Marc had an elaborate plan to climb a spire at sunset at the City of Rocks. Unfortunately, Heidi got scared and cried on the way up. So as the wind starting whipping around him at the top, the sun was set, and Heidi arrived with dried tears, he aborted his plan. The next day he proposed at Castle Rocks on a cute bridge over a sparkling creek with golden aspen leaves as a canopy.
NUMBER OF GUESTS?
150
WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING THEME?
Our themes were "skiing" and "handmade."
ANY SPECIAL TRADITIONS?
We used Heidi's grandparents' and then parents' cake topper for our wedding cake.
SONG THAT YOU WALKED DOWN THE AISLE TO?
"Quelqu'un m'a dit" by Carla Bruni
SONG FOR YOUR FIRST DANCE?
"You and I" by Ingrid Michaelson
HOW DID THE NIGHT END?
We ended the night by shaking it to one of Heidi's favorite songs, surrounded by friends and then off to the Sun Valley Lodge.
WHERE WAS YOUR HONEYMOON?
We were lucky enough to have a mini-moon right after the wedding on Maui and then a longer honeymoon in the fall in Europe.
WHAT MADE YOUR WEDDING SO SPECIAL?
The uniqueness of having people on top of the mountain in their wedding attire and, those who could, skied down. It led to a feeling of excitement and fun with lots of cheering throughout.
WHAT WAS THE BRIDE’S FAVORITE MOMENT?
Sorry going to have to give two–Skiing down the aisle of ribboned ski poles to cheers from all our friends and family and the first dance. We had taken dance lessons from a local couple, Dale and Peggy Bates, and had so much fun out on the floor.
THE GROOM’S?
The groom really doesn't remember because he was on "Cloud Nine" the whole time, but he really enjoyed skiing down the mountain with his new wife.
D.I.Y PROJECTS? GUEST FAVORS?
Heidi made napkin rings out of scraps of material sewn into a round button with beads at the center and a ribbon to tie around. The guest favors were stainless steal straws and specialized Forget-Me-Not flower seed packets from Sue Andersen Ink.
