Wow, I am so impressed by Ashley and Alex's wedding. Ashley organized the whole thing with tents, fantastic food, and 150 guests all on a super strict budget, and it turned out sensationally. Major props to them! I especially love their color choices and the cute personalized pink match boxes and sparklers. I'm also trying to figure out the best way to incorporate my dogs into our wedding, hopefully they look as well behaved and adorable as the Dyer's pug.

Maybe she can teach me a thing or two? Actually she can . . . Ashley loved planning her own wedding so much that she's branching out and starting her own event planning/wedding coordinating business . . . too cool. Good luck and congratulations to you both, and a big thank you to Kristin Cheatwood for all the great photo's. Enjoy!

Where are you from?
Alex and I were both born and raised here, me in Hailey & Alex in Sun Valley

Why did you chose Sun Valley?
That’s easy, because it’s our hometown…. and the one place we will always call home

What made your wedding so special?
Everything- Really! It surpassed our dreams and expectations. Our family and friends helped to make sure it was the best day of our lives, and it really was.

It poured rain at our rehearsal dinner and the weather forecast was not looking so great for the following day… The wedding day came and we literally watched as the day became more & more beautiful- It was absolutely perfect!

Favorite detail?
I don’t think I can choose just one detail that was my favorite. We put so much love & effort into everything that I think the day itself was everything we wanted & more.

One of my favorite things about the day was when the clouds lifted that afternoon, it really made the day more special for both of us. Our ceremony took place by the pond & was very emotional, with a few big laughs when Alex accidently read my vows instead of his. The reception was filled with amazing heartfelt speeches from both our families & friends. Alex’s sister Lynsey put together a wonderful slideshow of us from when we were little all the way up until now- it was by far one of my favorite moments of the day.

Color Palette?
Tangerine Orange, Fuchsia Pink, with hints of lime green

How did you decide your menu?

Sue & Brian Ahern from Full Moon Catering are wonderful and we knew we wanted to work with them right away. We wanted something that meant summer to us.

We chose Grilled Salmon with soy vinaigrette, as well as Pork tenderloin with a Mango salsa. It was served with a plated green salad, roasted red potatoes & grilled Zucchini & squash. We also had a cocktail hour with a few hors d’oeuvres so our guests were able to mingle before dinner. We opted out of serving the traditional wedding cake and had a four tiered cupcake stand with an assortment of flavors. Yummm!

Theme?
We wanted our wedding to represent who we are as a couple; we wanted it to be fun!

I think our “theme” if we had one was summer, colorful and heartwarming.

Any D.I.Y projects?
We did almost everything ourselves so it made it all that more special. We gave long sparklers to each guest which had personalized tags with our names and the wedding date on them to use at the “Big send off”- Our guests lined the drive way with lit sparklers as my father in law drove us away in a convertible mustang….It was fabulous!

Biggest challenge?
The WEATHER- the summers here have been crazy lately. You just never know what you are going to get so plan for anything & be prepared.

Tips for someone planning their own Sun Valley wedding?
Once the big day comes, go with the flow and make the best of everything. No matter what happens have fun and most importantly remember why you are doing this in the first place!

I have recently finished school and I am ready to start my own wedding/event planning business, if you or someone you know are getting married and would like a consult please contact me.
