Trailing of the Sheep

Last Sunday, the entire city of Ketchum came to a standstill in the middle of the day; shops shut down, roads were blocked and everyone gathered along Main Street. The 17th annual Trailing of the Sheep Festival culminated with the downtown parade, and did so in style. The event features sheepherders from all over the world, from the Andes of Peru to the Scotish Highlands, who have come from all around the country to take part in the traditional migration of sheep for the season. 1500 sheep trail down Main Street in a tradition that reflects part of Idaho's rich history of sheep farming.
