Crosstoberfest 2011: Beer-drinking, brat-eating and bike-riding!

When searching for a new spot for the Fall’s coolest bike race and beer celebration, veteran Crosstoberfest participants and organizers dubbed Elkhorn’s Sagewillow Barn the perfect spot for the Valley’s one and only sanctioned cyclo-cross event.  The Sagewillow Barn is no stranger to cool events… it hosts community events like the Sun Valley Ski Education’s annual Ski Swap and the Community School’s annual Barn Sale. So with hills and open space to burn, a barn to house a party, plenty of riders to race and beer-lovers to imbibe, the stage was set for last weekend’s Crosstoberfest!

Bike races for all ages and abilities, delicious brats, beer and dancing made this a fall perfect event for families. And if you missed you, don’t worry. We have all the best shots of the weekend right here. Check out David Glasscock’s awesome gallery from the weekend and check out  (or purcahse!) more at his website.

And if the riding, the beer and the brats weren’t enough, you missed out on some swag too! A huge thank you goes out to sponsors SCOTT USA, Power House and Skullcandy.  All the adult riders were entered to win a brand new SCOTT cross bike and winners of the kids’ races received prizes that included helmets and products from Scott, Skull Candy ear buds.

With a successful event at a cool, new venue behind them, event hosts, Billy and Tanya Olson of Power House are super stoked about the potential of the years to come.  Rain or shine this location offers the perfect spot for Crosstoberfest with the ability to move festivities inside if the weather doesn’t cooperate.  With plenty of buzz for what might come in 2012, you definitely don’t want to miss another one. So put next year’s Crosstoberfest on your calendar, get out those spin bikes and get training!
