Of course we assume it’s your charming personality that earned you a party invitation and we're pretty sure you know what to expect from your host. But does your host know what to expect from you? Is a gift expected? A good rule of thumb is: when in doubt bring a thoughtful token of gratitude. The "must bring a gift" list is when you are invited to a sit down dinner or if the party has a guest of honor (like a birthday party) or if you are an overnight guest.
